Throttle Valve Potentiometer G69


G69
The throttle valve potentiometer is connected to the throttle shaft and is supplied five volts by the MPI control unit. The MPI control unit receives a varying voltage signal from the potentiometer as the throttle position changes.

The voltage signal it supplies the MPI control unit is used to determine the position of the throttle plates and the speed of throttle movement. This information is used for:
  • Acceleration enrichment
  • Full throttle enrichment
The throttle valve potentiometer is also used as a substitute signal for the air mass sensor (G70).

Substitute Function

No substitute function is available for the throttle valve potentiometer.

Self-diagnosis

The ECU recognizes the following fault conditions of the throttle potentiometer:
  • An open circuit
  • The ECU checks the plausibility of the signal by comparing it to the signal of the air mass sensor (G70).
